18th April 1942 - 80 brave men with (16) B-25's boarded the USS Hornet. Set forth on a mission with the possibility of not making it home, intent on sending a message to Japan after their December 7th, 1941, Attack on Pearl Harbor.
These men served in Pendleton as the 17th Bombardment Unit of B-25 North American Mid-size Bombers.
